Mysore Painting is a painting form that describes the classical south Indian painting style that originated in the town of Mysore in Karnataka. The Mysore paintings are famous for their elegance, muted colors, elegance and attention. The Mysore paintings are created with such themes as Hindu Gods and Goddesses and also scenes from Hindu mythology. In the modern times Mysore paintings are popularly used during festive occasions especially in South India.

Mysore Paintings are created involving many steps. Out of these steps the first step is the making of the sketch of the image on the base.
The base of the Mysore Paintings comprises paper pasted on a wooden base. Next a paste made of zinc oxide and “gesso paste” is applied. In the next step a thin brush with all the jewelry and parts of throne and arch with some relief are painted giving a slight raised effect of carving. This application is left out for drying and then a thin gold foil is pasted on the surface. The rest of the piece is then painted using watercolors. Only muted colors are used.
There are many Mysore Painting Stores that provide varied painting products which are very much in demand. The Mysore painting is believed to be developed since 17th and 18th centuries.
